Right now, I am on a delayed train down to Malmö, on my day off. I am supposed to hold a few lectures on a course for activists and organizers in our merry little trade union, as well as for my railway colleagues in Malmö. Then, it´s back up to Stockholm early on sunday to start preparing for a meeting with some of the production managers at my dear employer to try to sort out the mess I have described in the cargo cultist thread. All on my "rest" days...

So, dear Pandapenners, what are your plans for the weekend? Plenty of sex, drugs and rock n´roll, I hope? Or will you, like me, be stuck with a pile of papers and notes, trying to make sense out of something mostly insensible and incomprehensible?

My Halloween weekend was a fun one. I was at Lucca Comics & Games, Italy's largest convention for fans of... wait for it... comics and games.

Hosted in the historical center of Lucca, a quaint Renaissance walled town, the con has stands scattered all over the town (a 500-700 meter oval), so you basically have to sightsee all the town if you want to visit everything. That's actually a nice deviation from the standard of cloistered cons hosted in anonymous hotels or congress-centers. Some of the events (such as a cartoon and anime songs concert) actually take place on the walls themselves, and then there's LARPS in the city dungeons.

The con is most (in)famous for drawing cosplayers like a fire draws moths. I reckon as much as one third of the visitors are cosplayers, so you're basically walking in a crowd of costumed Voltrons and Narutos and whatsnot. Me and my friends are sorta thinking of getting into cosplay ourselves, actually (yes, you can pity us).

Infortunately, three days of anime-themed carousing took their toll on my frail old body, and now I'm staying at home with a mild case of flu and a splitting headache.

I think some pointy eared elf wannabe shot you with something using a blowpipe...
It's probably a love potion gone wrong... [grin]

The Con seem like an interesting one I like the LARPs in the dungeons thing...

And just remember if you do engage in cosplay you have to post at least one pic here... [;)]
